5 Steps To Help You Finish 2014 Strong!

OK! I admit it! I hear voices in my head!
Yesterday the conversation went something like this.

“Where did the first half of 2014 go? You have worked so hard and there still is so much to do. You haven’t finished or even started some of the really important goals you have! How are you going to catch up?”

My inner voice likes to mess with me and see if he can get me to panic. He almost succeeded but not this time! I’ve got knowledge, skills, tools and the right attitude to develop and execute a good plan so I told him to knock it off!

How about you? Have you accomplished what you wanted in the first half of 2014? Are you on track, confident and ready to finish strong? Do you have any fears, concerns or threats?

Based on my conversations with business leaders many of us have concerns! The level of concern ranges from being a little concerned to almost being panicked. Knowing that we are not alone may make us all feel a little better but it doesn’t help us get results!

It’s time to LEAD!
Here is a 5 step process to help you turn fears and concerns into action and results!

1. Stop and take a deep breath. You can handle this!

2. Identify the top three most important goals you need to achieve this year.
(Be specific what has to be accomplished, by whom and by when.)

3. Analyze what has prevented you from making enough progress on each of these goals.
(Is it still really important? Did we set aside time and resources to work on it? etc.)

4. Develop barrier removal strategies and tactics.
(Don’t focus on one big perfect solution. Brainstorm many little actions that could help.)

5. Execute the strategies and tactics that you really believe you can accomplish.
(Warning: Big ideas that can’t be implemented quickly will only add more barriers.)

Success depends on committing to your plan and staying focused on the timely execution of the initiatives. Make sure the entire team understands what needs to be done, why it needs to be done, who needs to do it, and when it need to be done.

As always track progress, celebrate successes, and make course corrections as needed.
